    Although I’d prefer a full length layout, in the interest of safer racing I’ll also go along with option 3.

    And me & Jimmy will be available to help (he’s now a about two foot taller than when you guys last saw him)

    2. As I always thought we had been running at least the same length. Otherwise how can we possibly know if we are competitive with the rest of Naviga?

    In regards to Ian & George’s original anchor system, (ropes through loops fixed to submerged concrete slabs) this worked very well for years and I believe could again. The main problems I encountered were; repaired/knotted rope catching in the loops and overlong tethers from the buoys which can cause the clips/cleats to get jammed in the submerged hoops. Particularly when they have been pulled down too much by yachting types to get the submerged buoys out of the way of their keels.
    New complete lengths of rope & short tethers should resolve this.
    As for repositioning them, you would need two or three persons in waders with long poles for leverage, with the rescue boat alongside as a working platform to put poles/tools, coffee flasks etc

    Hello Martin & many happy returns of the season….
    I do like the idea of the longer straight (9m clearance) but I also have some concerns;
    1. faster entry speeds from longer straights, however nominal, may make these narrower gaps even more difficult to navigate safely.
    2. The last meter or so closest to the bank is by far the most treacherous as (particularly the West Bank) as there is a lot of large jagged concrete blocks protecting the banks from wave damage, the depth of these obviously depends on the water level which can easily fluctuate by 6”. There are also the buoy lines belonging to the “Sail section”

    The wider “oval” is possibly more practical as I assume a set of triangle surface race buoys could be accommodated within the width. Also the 10m gives us plenty of space.

    Ps, what is the width from the bank now?
